book: ARMED WITH ANGER: how uk punk surivived the nineties (IAN GLASPER)
Chi dice che gli anni Novanta non sono stati importanti per l'hardcore punk evidentemente non solo non se li è vissuti ma dimostra anche una grande ignoranza in materia. Certo che se la vostra discografia si ferma ai soliti vecchi grossi nomi che ora per muovere il culo (e voi con loro) si fanno dare diverse migliaia di euro per dei concerti orribili... beh... fottetevi... voi più di loro. Qui si sta parlando del vero punk hardcore, quello che si è sviluppato nel do it yourself e che proprio in quegli anni dette vita ad alcuni dei sottogeneri più interessanti ed innovativi (tra cui power violence, screamo, emo violence, oltre allo sviluppo e/o rinascita del crust anarcho punk, dello straight edge, del grindcore eccetera eccetera). Il quarto libro di Ian Glasper (quello per intenderci di The Day The Country Died, Burning Britain e Trapped in a Scene - tre indispensabili libri sulla scena punk inglese degli anni Ottanta) segue la stessa formula vincente dei tre volumi che lo precedono: divisione in regioni / capitoli e monografie per ogni band con storia, testimonianze, foto e discografia per un totale di 97 gruppi, 5 fanzine e 7 etichette del Regno Unito tra cui citerei Hard To Swallow, Disaffect, Health Hazard, Extinction Of Mankind, Voorhees, One By One, Cress, Shank, Wat Tyler, Embittered eccetera eccetera eccetera. Fondamentale.
