Best Albums of 2020 by Radio Fango FM

Full radioshow / podcast (1 track each):

And the best albums of 2020 are:

GULCH - impenetrable cererbal forces LP (Closed Casket Activities)
Absolutely the best hardcore record of the year!!! This band has definitely its own sound: mixing galloping death metal influenced riffs, power violent hyper speed hardcore punk ferocity, raspy insane vocals and over the top drumming with beats, blasts and stomps that will make you mosh until you  die... Everything is  packed in a serious fucked up raw punk sound! And yes, this album first pressing went completely sold out in just 4 hours!

SOLO ANSAMBLIS - olos LP (Artoffact)
My other most favorite album of the year comes from this amazing Lithuanian band. Since the release of their first single (and its great video), I was totally blown away by their darkwave post punk sound halfway between obscurity and upsetting menacing dance. The singing in their native language is the icing of this estranged gorgeous cake.

ZULU - my people... hold on CS (Quality Control HQ)
Super tough and tight power violence with Black Lives Matter related lyrics (and samples) that will stick in your head and make you think and react. Don't miss this.

FEARING - shadow LP (Funeral Party)
I love this band: Fearing embodies darkness with a touch of class. This band has the ability of making a sound that subtly grows inside you. We have one of my top fave here...

TOURIST - domestic scene CS (Salsa Verde Fanzine)
Over the top power violence from this San Diego unit. Great songwriting with a furious personal sound.

SOFT KILL - dead kids, r.i.p. city LP (Cercle Social)
Evocative emotional post punk Portland style. Top class song writing. "Roses All Around" is my favorite track of the year.

DROPDEAD - dropdead 2020 LP (Armageddon Label)
It's finally out! Angry, political and hyper fast, this new album sounds like Dropdead should sound in 2020. We waited this release for so long... and we're definitely not disappointed! Thank you!

BESTIAL MOUTHS - resurrectedinblack LP (Rune And Ruin)
Haunting and menacing avantgarde goth industrial darkwave. So immense and intense, Lynette's voice and music will drive you through an epic journey of grief and sorrow.

BAZOOKATOOTH - assimilate CS
Woah this band rips. Fast angry to the bone power violent hardcore punk with dual vocals attack. I love how the female and male voices blend together exchanging their angry lines about this fucked up society. This is pure diy punk the way it should be.

KOBRA - confusione LP (Iron Lung)
Hailing from my hometown (Milan, Italy), Kobra embodies what diy punk should sound today. They got something in between of the glorious days of Italian anarcho-punk hardcore mixed with modern raw punk d-beat and post punk too all topped by a ferocious stomping rhythm section. And the presence of sax in a couple of songs shows their excellence in songwriting. Lyrics are superb.

BOOTLICKER - how to love life E.P. 7" (Neon Taste)
Fuck I love this Oi influenced D-Beat bootlicking machine. Top notch. Another awesome EP.

SPECIAL INTEREST - the passion of... LP (Thrilling Living / Night School)
This band is cool. They have a glam punk look, rockish flave, a super great vocalist, and post punkish synth and guitars... but say what you want about their sound... to me this is just techno punk. And it's amazing.

STIGMATIZED - ...a wall of falseness CD (Fresh Outbreak / Mastice Produzioni / Guanamala Autoproduzioni / Fast'n'Loud / Sedation / Impeto / Italian Extreme Underground / Nothing Left)
I was literally blown away by this grindcore powerhouse hailing from Cagliari, Italy. A super tight and powerful production for an onslaught of grind barrage with a huge dose of great and memorable riffs. Don't miss this one... Please do the vinyl.

SPECTRES - nostalgia LP (Artoffact)
Spectres delivered another personal, amazing and captivating post punk release packed with great songwriting, gorgeous vocals and catchy songs.

METH LEPPARD - woke LP (Wise Grinds / Bloody Scythe)
Insane pulverizing whirlwind pulverizing machine... An unstoppable giant grinder!

PRIMITIVE BLAST - animalistic LP (Last Ride / Triple B)
I like my hardcore to be stomping and crushing. And that's exactly what Primitive Blast do...

AHNA - crimson dawn CS (Caligari)
Stenchcore masterpiece!

SHACKLES - hatred's reservoir LP (Resist)
Mixing death metal with power violence seems to be the new way this year. Many tried but only Shackles succeed. Storming album.

AUS - II LP (Static Age)
I love the AUSterity of German post punk. This album sounds Berliner at every single note.

SUBDUED - over the hills and far away LP (La Vida Es Un Mus / Roachleg)
I will always love dark UK anarcho punk....

DRILL SERGEANT - cosmic leash CS
This band sounds like a driller! Indeed...

BLEACH BIRTH - control (Bandcamp)
It really puzzles me when such great record like this don't have a physical release. Not that it really matters, but this dark punk band is absolutely great: their sound is bleak, their songwriting is immediately recognizable, abrasive but catchy at the same time, the songs are great, even the artwork is cool and definitely will be perfect for an album cover.... And despite their funny song titles they made clear in their bandcamp bio they stand for social equality against racism. So it's pretty strange this wasn't issued by any label... Maybe they just don't care... Anyway absolute great band.

THE PASSING - s/t CS (Caligari)
Unrelenting blackened raw punk straight on point.

M!R!M - the visionary LP (Avant!)
Superb synth pop at maximum excellence. Extremely beautiful album.
