EXIT UNIT - s/t 7" (Deep Six / Draw Blank)
INFEST 2017! Joe Denunzio and Matt Domino from Infest teamed up with Bob Kasitz from Lack Of Interest (who by the way is the drummer in the killer Infest reunion shows...) to give us this slab of pissed off anger which sounds exactly what could be a new Infest release in the most greater way you can ever imagine. Everything is just perfect: angry, anthemic and hateful tunes which won't easily get away from your head. Infest always had the power of writing perfect fastcore / hardcore / power violence songs and this one is no exception. Don't sleep on this, get your copy right now and enjoy this little monster because it's a truly inspired killer release and we just can only hope it won't be a standalone project. We need more from this band!



SHACKLES - lifeless paradise 10" (Resist)
This Australian destroyer is absolute one of my favorite band of the most recent years. Its pulverizing sound blends the darkest sounds of hardcore mixed with power violence and an overall crusty d-beat feel to complete their awesomeness. The song structures are all great to follow and surprisingly entertaining blast after blast. Once again they crafted a masterpiece in extreme sound all topped with furious vocals delivered with anger and negativity.



BOAK - movies 7" (Grindpromotion)
Insanely good power violence from this UK band that already shined with their previous EPs. This one is massive. Don't get fooled by its cheesy cover, which amuses me by the way, this one is a real destroyer!



EXIT ORDER - seed of hysteria LP (La Vida Es Un Mus / Side Two)
I love this album. Great varied and angry hardcore with a deep post punk influence and a over the top female voice. This platter has all the ingredients necessary to be a true gem and the songwriting is always intriguing. Chapeau!



CANKRO - demo EP (Bandcamp)
Killer pummeling unstoppable d-beat punk from Sao Paulo, Brazil. This demo is a total ripper. One of the best debut of the year. Can someone release this demo on vinyl please?



WOLFBRIGADE - run with the hunted LP (Southern Lord)
Easily one of the greatest crust d-beat album of the year! Another great masterpiece under the bulletbelt of this Swedish veterans. This is not your usual d-beat which sounds all the same from start to finish, they really care about songwriting and that's why it's one of my favorite crust d-beat band of these latest years...



PMS 84 - easy way out LP (Discos Enfermos)
Best oi punk album of the year. You can't miss this one as every track is anthemic. So goooood.



ODIO - ancora LP (Agipunk)
Top notch dark, obscure and pummeling crust punk. An immediate favorite band.



KONTATTO - fino alla fine LP (Agipunk)
One of the best, if not the best, crust punk band from Italy is back with their third LP. Easily their best to date, it finally gives you the power, anger and enjoyment you get every time you see them live. Crust punk to the bone with elephantiac guitars, pulverizing rhythm sectoion and wretched vocals. Not to mention a crew of lovely punx. Mandatory.



DEATH BELLS - standing at the edge of the world LP (Burning Rose / Funeral Party)
Oh Australia, I love you. In the most recent years, this country gave me a shitload of bands that managed to get my attention and placed themselves amongst my favorites... And this one is a great new addition... and in this case we can even say addiction! From the first time I've heard it, it immediately got me. Superb post punk, amazing and intriguing. Don't sleep on this, this is a gorgeous release.




CONCEALED BLADE - s/t LP (Beach Impediment)
This Pittsburgh combo really made a rager of an LP. I listened it countless times: aggressive hardcore with a slight rockish feel which generally isn't my cup of tea, but in this case totally rules. One of the best hardcore releases of the year with no fuckin doubts.



DISCIPLES OF CHRIST - parched dredge 7" (Iron Lung)
Grindcore masterpiece. This is the kind of release that makes you love a band. I enjoyed their past releases but this one really destroyed me and it's a perfect showcase of what grindcore should and could be: a bombastic sound, awesome songwriting and a brutal dose of pissed off anger. And yes, drums are played by mister Chris Moore (Coke Bust and ex Magrudergrind) who is maybe the best grindcore drummer you can have the chance to see in your life. His blastbeats are nothing less than supreme pleasure.



WAILIN STORMS - sick city LP (Antena Krzyku)
I'm new to this band. I just discovered them listening the first single from this new album. I kept this song in my daily player waiting for their new album to come out... In the meantime I kept myself busy with their previous album which I enjoyed a fuckin lot. Once released this new slab of vinyl I felt in love with new one as well.... Post punk and noise punk are all elements you can find in their sound but I will also add a blues feeling throwing in the mix for good measure and surely not to forget their singer style who is pretty close to Danzig. All in all they manage to craft their own style and all tracks are built around a solid and great songwriting. Dark and gloomy this album could appeal to many and definitely this band needs more attention. Try them, chances are that you will add a new favorite band in your bag, so it has been for me.



LEBENDEN TOTEN - static 12" (Iron Lung)
12 minutes song on a single sided 12" and it's a ripper of a freakish weirdo punk with noise interludes, abrasive guitars, hypnotic bass lines, pummeling drums and great female vocals. Their label state this band as one of the greatest punk band to ever exist and I couldn't agree more...



IDLES - brutalism LP (Balley)
Oh come on, this band is so spastic that you can't really resist them... They are crazy as fuck!



LIMP WRIST - facades LP (La Vida Es Un Mus)
So they're back! Latest release was dated 2008 and the excitement around this new LP quickly spread through the DiY network. LW started back in the early 2000s with Martin on vocals who you should know was Los Crudos vocalist (one of the best fastcore / hardcore band ever existed in the world. Period. And not to forget his later projects like N/N and Needles among others). Martin teamed up with some great musicians who previously and later formed some greatest kick ass bands too: Paul (Devoid Of Faith, Acid Reflux, Exit Order etc), Scott (Needles, Midnight etc) and Andrew (Kill The Man Who Question). Apart their killer musical output, Limp Wrist are also known for being an inspirational queercore band responsible of the foundation and evolution of the genre. This new LP is a bit different from previous full frontal records. It still have many rager songs in it but also some awesome tunes that mostly indulge in a post punk influence. The 11 tracks LP ends with three synth wave tunes which are interesting as well. And finally it comes with a huge zine with band's lyrics plus writings and arts about queer punk done by some queer artists invited by the band to contribute to their LP in the common effort of showcasing the community... Great stuff.



CERIMONIA SECRETA - da sempre CS (Occult Punk)
I've heard good reviews of this band's gigs. They came from my hometown (Milan, Italy) but for some unlucky events I always missed their shows so I really didn't know what to except from their debut and... wow, I loved it. Very good post punk with synth, theremin and sax thrown in for good measure. With members from Kalashnikov and Corpse, this album is a gem in post punk aesthetics. Don't miss this!



TARANTULA - s/t 7" (Lengua Armada Discos / Erste Theke Tontrager)
Mid paced pummeling awesome punk with gruff vocals from CULO members. Gold.



DOWNTOWN BOYS - cost of living LP (Sub Pop)

Oh this one is so good... Utterly socially conscious political punk with great songwriting, awesome female vocals and saxophone. Produced by Guy Picciotto of Fugazi, these songs are catchy and thoughtful at the same time. Seriously this is a damn good punk album!

ADAMENNON - le nove ombre del chaos CD (Boring Machines)
The highly prolific Adamennon got a huge discography under his belt comprised of many drone, psychedelic, ambient, classical stuff. This release take inspiration from the glorious tradition of Seventies Italian composers (Goblin in primis) but with a darker and blackened tone. This is trippin music and you should definitely not miss this gem especially if you're into old fashioned horror soundtracks...

PETITE - s/t EP (Bandcamp)
Super gorgeous and catchy oi! punk with great female vocals.

Radio Onda D’Urto è in un momento di grave difficoltà economica: rischia di non avere le risorse per quest’anno radiofonico e coprire così le spese fino alla prossima Festa di agosto. Questa situazione è determinata da un’ingiusta gabella di 180 mila euro che l’Agenzia delle entrate di Brescia ci ha imposto.

La cronaca è molto chiara: nel 2006 abbiamo fatto uno scambio di frequenze con un network commerciale privato per eliminare problemi di interferenze. Dopo aver chiesto indicazioni a funzionari del ministero delle Comunicazioni e a vari esperti del settore su come realizzare regolarmente l’operazione, abbiamo ceduto la nostra storica 106,5 Fm in cambio di quella attualmente occupata. Si è trattato di un baratto, senza alcuno scambio di denaro, che non ci ha fatto guadagnare nulla in termini finanziari, ma ci ha permesso di avere un segnale senza più disturbi.

Dopo anni ci è stato intimato di pagare: per l’Agenzia delle entrate avremmo infatti ottenuto una plusvalenza e dovevamo quindi pagare una considerevole imposta.

Il nostro ricorso contro questa sanzione ha vinto in due gradi di giudizio (con relativo sbugiarda mento quindi dell’Agenzia delle entrate) davanti a un’apposita commissione tributaria, che ha riconosciuto non esserci stato alcun profitto nello scambio e ha condannato pure la controparte al pagamento delle spese processuali. L’Agenzia delle entrate, con pervicacia e protervia, ha impugnato entrambe le sentenze a noi favorevoli trascinandoci quindi davanti alla Cassazione. Qui, secondo il parere dei nostri consulenti e legali, avremmo, con molta probabilità, perso: difficilmente l’Alta Corte avrebbe infatti riconosciute la peculiarità e l’anomalia di una emittente come Radio Onda d’Urto, gestita da un’Associazione culturale senza fini di lucro e che – per questo – non ha obbligo di mettere a bilancio le proprie frequenze. In parole povere, avremmo rischiato che i giudici considerassero senza valore la nostra frequenza (in quanto non valutata) e ritenessero che, dalla permuta, Radio Onda D’Urto ci avesse guadagnato, ottenendo un canale che l’altro soggetto dello scambio, il network commerciale, aveva stimato in 400mila euro circa. Tutto questo perché loro l’avevano messo a bilancio e noi no: essendo un Associazione culturale, non dovevamo farlo.

Un pronunciamento negativo della Cassazione avrebbe significato una sanzione da oltre 450 mila euro, con conseguenti pignoramenti, che avrebbe minacciato la stessa esistenza della Radio o – comunque – l’avrebbe pesantemente ipotecata per molti anni. Si è presa quindi la decisione probabilmente più sofferta della nostra storia: sottostare al “ricatto” dell’Agenzia delle entrate e pagare 180mila euro per salvaguardare Radio Onda D’Urto dalla “roulette russa” della Cassazione.

Noi consideriamo quanto ci è accaduto una sorta di “rapina politica”. In un contesto in cui l’evasione fiscale nel bresciano ha proporzioni enormi (ben oltre un miliardo di euro secondo le stime ufficiali), l’Agenzia delle entrate ha deciso con un vero e proprio accanimento di vessare una realtà autogestita che non ha mai guadagnato un euro in 32 anni, non trasmettendo pubblicità e basandosi esclusivamente sull’autofinanziamento. Avrebbero potuto accettare i due gradi di giudizio dove ci hanno dato ragione e, invece, hanno deliberatamente deciso, con ostinazione…quantomeno sospetta, di proseguire il contenzioso, sapendo che noi rischiavamo tutto e loro, invece, nulla! Non importa, inoltre, se lo Stato ci deve ancora dare più di 35mila euro di rimborsi delle bollette telefoniche ed elettriche, che attendiamo ormai dal lontano 2009!

Per pagare abbiamo dovuto utilizzare tutte le riserve che avevamo accantonato in dieci anni, grazie all’abnegazione e all’impegno di centinaia di volontari e di volontarie. Adesso non abbiamo più un soldo, siamo stati messi a terra ma siamo assolutamente intenzionati a risollevarci e a non farci tappare la bocca. Siamo convinti che in uno scenario di moderna barbarie capitalistica, caratterizzata dalla cancellazione dei diritti sociali, dal peggioramento delle condizioni di vita e di lavoro, dal pericolo xenofobo e dal ripresentarsi dei fascismi, l’esistenza di uno strumento di comunicazione antagonista e di informazione libera come Radio Onda D’Urto sia un prezioso bene comune da salvare.

Chiediamo quindi a tutti e a tutte di aderire alla campagna straordinaria di abbonamenti (da 7 euro al mese) e di sottoscrizione che è iniziata lunedì 11 dicembre e finirà domenica 17 dicembre 2017. 

Non ci faranno tacere, mai!

Power Violence Project Fanzine + Documentary

In case you didn't have already bought your copy of Power Violence Project Fanzine, get it now or regret it forever.
For any power violence fan this is just a mandatory and great way to start exploring its story as well as a great anticipation of the documentary that Athena Kautsch (Voetsek, The Dread, Six Weeks Records and Short Fast and Loud fanzine) and Melissa Petisa are working on.

While we all can't wait its release we can start enjoying this precious zine. Here's what you get...

It starts with a handful of superfan reviews about their PV most favorite releases. You will read what fundamental musicians and zine editors like Chris Moore, Dave Witte, Chiyo Nukaga, Beau Beasley, Makiko Suda, Tony Foresta etc think about Man Is The Bastard, Infest, No Comment, Crossed Out, Capitalist Casualties, No Less etc seminal records and what they meant for their musical and life evolution. And you will probably live again what they meant to you the very first time you got blown away by the PV monster...

Second installment of this precious effort focuses more on the history and meaning of power violence through the great reprint of Jeff Robinson's column (first appeared in Short Fast And Loud! zine #5) about Capitalist Casualties history which is a mandatory reading for any PV fan; words about doing your own thing from sir Chris Dodge (Slap A Ham Records, Spazz, Trappist etc); Ten must hear records recommendations from the mighty Eric Wood (Man Is The Bastard / Bastard Noise) plus a brief but highly informative history of noise music and a history of Bastard Noise; a synopsis of Man Is The Bastard background and philosophy by Aaron Kenyon and how Henry Barnes (MITB / Amps For Christ) entered the skull family. All these articles are none less than mandatory readings to better understand what it was (and is) all about.

Closing the zine a funny calendar with PV protagonists birthdays and historical dates (gigs, inventions, facts) juxtaposed page by page by gig flyers and Monkeybite zine covers. Lovely!

You definitely need this. As said before try to get your copy now or you will regret it forever.

Practiced Hatred Fanzine - issue 1-4 (review)

This zine is pure gold for any power violence fan!
Named after a Crossed Out song and made by Gus from the almighty band Depraved (and ex Forged), this omnibus edition collect all four issues of this PV gem. The list of interviews speaks for itself: Sea Of Shit, Chest Pain, Deadbeat, To The Point, Human Garbage, Concussive, Calafia Puta, Pavel Checkov, Life Of Refusal, MPG, Bolo, Savage, Malpais Records, Scum Human, Sidetracked, Weekend Nachos, Suppression, To Live A Lie Records, Woundman, Blast For Humanity Records and Arab Spring... So I had the chance to read about some of my most favorite power violence bands and labels, as well as discovering a few new ones (at least to me). I love its cut and paste style which brings back the old glory days of zine making and even if this zine appears to be over, we can only thank Gus for all these interesting readings.
